Kaufland selects Merrifield for Australian distribution centre
Kaufland, one of the world’s largest supermarket chains, has confirmed it will open its first Australian distribution centre at Merrifield Business Park in Melbourne’s north. The supermarket chain has purchased a large 28-hectare site on which it plans to construct a 115,000 square metre purpose-built distribution centre that will service their stores. The facility will be one of the largest of its kind in Australia and feature extensive temperature controlled storage, the latest automated warehousing with a 40 metre high bay storage as well as a 3,600 square metre office. MAB signs fresh food exporter at Merrifield
Words by Tim Boreham, The Age October 20, 2018 Following paint maker Dulux’s pioneering move to their site in 2015, the developers of the sprawling Merrifield Business Park in Melbourne’s outer north have signed their third key occupant for the 330 hectare complex. The family-owned Steritech, which treats fresh produce bound for export markets, has acquired two hectares for an undisclosed price and plans to build a 3648 square metre screening facility to complement its existing Brisbane site. The first roads into the estate will be officially open in July 2017. The first manufacturing giant at Merrifield Business Park, Dulux, will be open for business in 2017, less than 24 months after the $1.2billion, 330 hectare business park was officially launched.
